Ownership is where the difference shows up

Belt and chain setups both work. The better fit depends on how you ride, where you ride, and how much hands-on maintenance you are comfortable with.

Chain drive

Chain systems are familiar, easy to service, and broadly supported. If you value simplicity and universal serviceability, they still make a lot of sense.

Belt drive

Belt systems stay cleaner and can feel quieter, especially for riders who want less routine fuss. The tradeoff is a little more specificity in the system around them.

What matters most

Pick the setup that matches your habits, not just your ideals.
